Dimensional Inspection (Metrology) Lab at DCC

Dimensional Metrology Lab

The Dimensional Inspection (Metrology) Program utilizes two laboratories fully equipped to train students to enter a manufacturing environment as quality inspectors.

The “Bench Room” has 20 granite surface plates sitting atop of cabinets that are loaded with Mitutoyo manual measuring tools. These 20 work stations allow each student to have his/her own tools and workspace to train and learn the trade. Students will perform component setups according to blueprint specifications and record results using quality control methods.

The “CMM Room” has the latest auto measuring equipment available. It houses Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM’s), Roundness Testers, Surface Finish Testers, and more. Here students will train to program and operate these machines to gather the data needed to fully inspect multiple parts.
